Upcoming Event
"Stories of the Underground Railroad”
Narrator: John Chapman, owner of Manumission Tour Company
Join the Leadership Alexandria Alumni Association and Manumission Tour Company for an immersive 60-minute journey through Alexandria’s clandestine past. Based on the firsthand accounts in William Still’s 1872 classic, The Underground Railroad, this walking tour brings the King Street corridor to life. We will visit the actual sites where courageous individuals staged their escape from bondage, exploring the mechanics of the local Underground Railroad and the incredible resilience of those who traveled it. This curated tour will start steps away from City Hall and end at 1799 Prime, which has its own story to tell.
